Warren Schmeichel

Warren E. Schmeichel

March 21, 1928 - June 26, 2015

It was in the Record Eagle this morning that Warren Schmeichel just passed away. He and his wife Teresa were a big part of Bethlehem for years and years and years. They moved into Traverse City a few years ago because they felt a need to be closer to services and attended St. Michael's Lutheran while livings there. As they continued to age, they moved downstate to be closer to their children. They both were extremely active at Bethlehem for as long as I knew them and they were a couple that helped make Bethlehem the warm and loving church that it is. I remember feeling so sad when they left to live in Traverse City. I felt like a large piece of our church went with them. I guess in reality, they left a bigger piece behind that has helped make us be the place of love and caring that Christ wants us to be. Jack Stolz and Warren had a really fun and playful relationship, that only two good friends can develop. Meetings were not boring, more like entertaining, with those two around. I think Warren had every elected post in the church except for the Chair of Mary Martha. He was very active in the Gidoens and spread the Good News in the USA as well as overseas with joy! I know he,s waking up with our Lord, but I will miss knowing he,s still here with us, helping others in any way he can. Warmly, Chad Kahler, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Congregation President
